Introduction

TheSwellBox.com is a blog dedicated to theological reflection. What is theological reflection?

According to the Rev. Dr. Richard Dickey, "It is used to denote a process in which an individual or small group reflects on their personal or collective experience(s) in light of their faith. The aim is not only to come to new understandings about the circumstances in which people live and the faith they profess, but to identify new ways of responding that validate their experience and give voice to their truth." The Rev. goes on to explain that this process is useful, if not essential, in the formation of faith, ministry, and spirituality.

Picture a wedding ceremony: our goal is to marry our actions to our theologies.

That is the blog we are entering into. So, why the name?

This blog is a separate space, enclosed within the larger context of life, where others may witness honest theological reflection pouring from everyday situations. It is a space to witness God in the ordinary. It is also a mechanism we hope will help you regulate the noise of the world against the voice of God. Through that, it is our hope that you become intensely affected with the hope and love of God.

Welcome to The Swell Box. May your ears become awake to the whispers of the Spirit. May your eyes perceive God in the ordinary, the mundane. May your heartfelt affections for God begin a never-ending crescendo.  May you treat each situation you encounter with the mind of Christ. May you experience life with God in the deepest, richest ways.
